Mentor Purpose: make new member feel involved and support member
through their first 4 Toastmaster speeches.
Mentor Goal: ensure new Toastmaster completes his first 4
speeches in a timely fashion.
1. ___________ Member joins.
2. ___________ Mentor introduced to member.
3. ___________ IceBreaker speech copy given to member.
4. ___________ Member's ice breaker speech is scheduled.
5. ___________ Mentor ensures that member gets:
- copy of Functions of a Toastmaster meeting
and each is explained.
- member is put on list server to get all
broadcasts
- member gets a copy of latest schedule which
shows his name and some duty (timer, ah)
within the next few weeks so that he
becomes involved early.
- the CTM, ATM program is explained to new member.
6. ___________ Mentor ensures that member got their manuals from
International.
7. ___________ Member checks with EVP to ensure that new member is
assigned Grammarian/Timer duties with a few weeks to
get member involved immediately
- mentor explains and shows member how to use
timing lights before scheduled to do the task.
- mentor explains ah/grammarian function in
detail before member is scheduled to do the task.
8. ___________ Mentor gives member private feedback on each
speech the member gives to help them out (done
in addition to the public speech evaluation).
9. ___________ Mentor volunteers to hear member's practice speeches
prior to club presentation if member desires.
(Mentor must approach new member prior to each
speech and volunteer for a practice session,
which new member can accept/decline.)
10. ____________ Mentor ensures that new member knows how to be
General Evaluator and Table Topics master
(in detail). When member is scheduled to do
these functions, mentor will go over duties
in detail prior to member doing function.
11. ____________ Mentor checks with member to see when they would
feel comfortable doing the GE, Table Topics,
Toastmaster functions. Relay what member feels
is comfortable to the EVP so EVP can schedule
accordingly.
